The Detection and Response to Suspicious Items course is designed to provide participants with an understanding of how to detect, classify, and respond to suspicious items in a variety of settings. The course will cover the definitions of suspicious items, their classification, the adversary’s perspective, methods of attack, security countermeasures, warning signs of suspicious items, and emergency response procedures.
Participants will learn to identify suspicious items, their characteristics, and how to differentiate them from normal items. They will also gain an understanding of the motives of adversaries and the common methods of attack that they may employ. The course will explore the various security countermeasures that can be implemented to prevent and mitigate attacks.
Participants will be trained in recognizing the warning signs of suspicious items and behavior and will learn how to respond to suspicious item sighting. They will be taught situational awareness techniques to improve their ability to identify and respond to suspicious items.
In the event of an emergency, participants will be familiar with the emergency response procedures and their roles in responding to suspicious items. The course will also provide an overview of incident response procedures.

As the founder of the Counter Terrorism Certification Board, he has developed internationally recognized programs such as the Certified Counter Terrorism Practitioner (CCTP) and Certified Physical Security Consultant (CPSC) certifications. He authored the Complete Counter Terrorism Guide in 2018 and serves as the Operational Director of The Counter Terrorist Magazine – Asia Pacific Edition.
